Complex Cataract Case in Vitrectomized Eye

This patient presents with an intumescent cataract that formed shortly after pars plana vitrectomy with silicone oil injection for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. Arup Chakrabarti, MD, encounters a series of problems including a runout tear caused by scissors while attempting to enlarge the capsulorhexis, miosis, iris prolapse, and an unwieldy nucleus that cannot be rotated.
