During the vitrectomy to repair the presumed retinal detachment, they discovered a scleral rupture, which changed the operative plan considerably.

It's a good idea not to let the AC collapse in these cases during phaco to prevent the oil from coming forward and further damaging the zonules. A great outcome nonetheless! Chorioretinectomy might also be something to consider during the initial surgery.
