Amin Nawar , MD, FRCS, shares what he calls the iris shelf technique in a case of a 12-year-old boy who presented with a traumatic cataract and intraocular foreign body (IOFB). Pars plana lensectomy is performed, preserving the anterior capsule, followed by posterior capsulotomy. Using active suction of the probe, the IOFB was extracted out of the eye through the posterior capsulotomy and the corneal incision.
