Teflon Wrapping for IOFB Removal

Show Description +

A metallic object becomes embedded in the eye of a 24-year-old male after a hammering injury. Dr. Huseyin Yetik presents a new technique for intraocular foreign body removal using polytetrafluoroethylene (teflon) wrapping. A piece of sterilized teflon is flattened onto the retina with PFCL. The IOFB is then wrapped in the teflon sheet to protect the eye from jagged edges and make grasping the IOFB easier.
