A technique for capsulorrhexis rescue is demonstrated, in which the flap is regrasped near the root of the tear and directed in the opposite clock meridian plus 1 clock hour. Traction should always be applied in a horizontal direction with no vertical vector.

The rescue maneuver being attempted here is being done in the wrong direction, you should be moving your forceps to the left, not the right, and that is why it is unsuccessful, in addition to several attempts to begin with in the wrong direction, further extending the tear. Initial difficulty arising from trying to do too much of the tear without re-grasping it. Re-grasping it is your friend, not your enemy, take the extra time and this problem will not arise.
