The Evolution of IOL Fixation Part I: Large Incision

A 20G vitrectomy and trans-scleral PC-IOL fixation is performed on an aphakic patient. A 55-year-old Caucasian gentleman previously presented with penetrating eye injury associated with intraocular foreign body. Three months after the surgery he underwent trans-scleral IOL fixation. A relatively large keratotomy is needed in order to introduce the IOL into the eye. Patients' vision improved from 20/400 to 20/20 a week after surgery.
