Sideways Sculpting Technique for Posterior Polar Cataract With Nuclear Sclerosis

Posterior polar cataracts always pose a challenge. Most cases of posterior polar cataracts present to surgeons early with minimal nuclear sclerosis, which makes the nucleus removal easy. With grade 2 and more sclerosis, it is difficult to aspirate the nucleus without division. The author of this video presents a technique of sideways sculpting, which avoids nucleus rotation during nucleotomy, thus reducing the chances of posterior capsular rupture.
