Removal of Dislocated IOL; Placement of Three-Piece Sulcus IOL; Pars Plana Vitrectomy (PPV)

Show Description +

This adult patient presented with a dislocated single piece IOL in the sulcus. The patient had previously had surgery for a congenital cataract when he was 5, during which the surgeon had placed a single piece IOL in the sulcus. The IOL subsequently dislocated inferiorly. In this video, Dr. Matthew Witmer of Retinal Consultants of Arizona removes the dislocated IOL and places a 3-piece IOL in the sulcus. Vitrectomy was performed behind the lens to ensure no traction on the retina from residual vitreous.
