Author: Zia ul Mazhry FRCS(edin), FRCS(Glasg),FCPS(Pak), demonstrates a safe and effective technique of hydrophobic acrylic IOL implantation using reusable metal injectors. A variety of injection systems are available for foldable IOL implantation following phaco cataract surgery. Techniques with disposable and reusable injectors differ. Tecnis Aspheric and AcrySof IOL implantation are explained in this video presentation. Loading of the IOL in the cartridge in pre-injection position is of utmost importance. In this approach, the limbs of the IOL (haptics) should be folded on itself like a fetus in uterine cavity and it is to be placed low in the cartridge with the help of a forceps.
