Before epinucleous aspiration we need to make Crater Casting, it consists of enlarging the crater obtained after endonucleous aspiration. This is a necesary step in order to debilitate the hard epinucleous. Many endonucleous residues are left in the crater equator, they are identified because empty spaces are more translucent. If you introduce a cannula in the equator periphery you will identify the areas that need enlargement. Probably a phaco microtip fits more easily inside the crater equator to look for such pieces. In the situation of a black cataract this step must be repeated in 360º, crater casting must also be performed in the posterior plate, to eliminate endonucleous residues. This crater enlargement is necesary for the next step, epinucleous aspiration, were we drag the peripheral pieces inside the bag with a combination of hinged movement, slicing, horizontal chop and lateral separation. Last step is posterior plate aspiration.

Great¡ Do you take the epinucleous out of the bag ?

did you do hydro.. ?

Your question points to a fundament of microchop it is a mechanical deep layer delineation. When I perform hydro we obtain, epinucleous, peripheral structure and endonucleous. The consistency is different, epinucleous is soft, endonucleous is mild, peripheral structure is hardest part of the cataract, it contains the "leathery" posterior plate.
