Microchop is a phaco technique specifically designed for hard cataracts. The main difference with respect to other techniques is to avoid posterior plate rupture until the last step, and this is a shared feature with circumferential disassembly, decreases, and conquer. Although the three techniques share some principles, they have distinct maneuvers and performance. The microchop tangential chop permits posterior plate isolation and aspiration in the last step.
