In this case, IOL explantation is performed using Youssef Explantation Forceps. The original IOL was incorrectly calculated due to exotropia, amblyopia, and a hypermature cataract, resulting in a +5.50 D error postoperatively. Tarek Youssef, MD, says the specialized design of the forceps allows for smooth, controlled removal of the IOL without the need for complex maneuvers like cutting or rolling the IOL.
