Diego de Ortueta MD, Gabor B. Scharioth MD
Show Description +
As an alternative to transscleral suturing or gluing, Gabor Scharioth, MD, and Diego de Ortueta, MD, employ their sutureless technique for sulcus fixation of a posterior chamber IOL using permanent incarceration of the haptics in a scleral tunnel parallel to the limbus. This technique facilitates successful repositioning of dislocated and subluxated PCIOLs and minimizes intraoperative maneuvers, thereby reducing the risk of intraoperative trauma.

Dr Gabor, you advised not to use this technique before the age of 10? What is your explanation for that?

Wonderful thinking, excellent technique. Do you think it is applicable in children? Or will change in refractive power and axial growth of the eye would cause late complications.
