Phacoemulsification in a hypermature morgagnian cataract is a challenge. The risk of posterior capsular rupture due to thin posterior capsule and zonular dialysis due to weak zonules is very high. In this technique, the small nucleus is prolapsed into the anterior chamber after capsulorhexis and the IOL is placed in the bag, after which phacoemulsification is safely performed with adequate viscoelastic protection.
