Excellent points; I operate at both a large hospital (the site of this case) and a smaller surgery center. At the aforementioned larger hospital -- despite my pleas -- LOW temp cautery is not available. So, yes, there is a bit of haptic melt at times, but I have yet to have extrusion issues in 20+ such cases over 3 years. Your point is well taken. I cannot source Zeiss lenses for either facility, but find the Tecnis works well with low-temp cautery at my surgery center.

hi from south africa. i do a similar thing but find that the haptic melt with technis or alcon MA60 does not work as well as the zeiss. Also the little knob created by the melt needs to be covered with the tenons which sometimes can be a pain..ive seen colleagues push it flush against the sclera and not get adequate tenons cover which i think is inappropriate.
