LASIK Flap Complications

Show Description +

Priyanka Sood, MD, offers a look at her presentation on retreating LASIK flap complications. The complication rates differ between microkeratome procedures, 0.4% to 10%, and femtosecond laser, 0.67% to 15%. Results after the follow-up procedure are generally quite successful, with microkeratome retreatment over aborted flaps resulting in excellent visual outcomes in Dr. Sood's practice. Surface ablation after aborted laser flaps resulted in excellent outcomes as well, with her study showing that second surgery within 2 weeks is a safe and effective treatment plan.
