Dry Eye Review

Show Description +

In her review, Shazia Ahmed, MD, discusses that there is a high prevalence of dry eye disease in the overall population, and it is even higher in the clinical setting. Undiagnosed, DED not only has a severe impact on patients' quality of life, it also leads to poor surgical outcomes. The steps of DED management are straightforward: identify the underlying etiology, classify the disease with regard to severity, choose a targeted treatment, monitor the results, and adjust accordingly. The end goal is a stable tear film.
