Case Information
A 12-year-old female presented to Nikita Arora, MD, with a history of night blindness. On examination, her conjunctiva looked extremely dry, and her cornea was hazy. The patient was referred to a pediatrician and diagnosed with low weight for her age, as well as other nutritional deficiencies. One month after beginning treatment, the patient’s cornea was clear, her conjunctiva looked relatively healthy, and her Schirmer’s score improved.
Medical History:
12y/o female came with a H/O of night blindness since a month. On examination her conjunctiva looked extremely dry and cornea was hazy.
Concomitant Medications:
Not on any medication.
Diagnosis:
Xerophthalmia
Treatment:
Vitamin A supplements and topical lubricants
