Show Description +

Maria H. Berrocal, MD, performs a complex surgery on a patient with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes, including phacoemulsification with IOL implantation to treat a cataract and 27-gauge pars plana vitrectomy for a combined tractional and rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. Retinectomy under air with silicone oil tamponade was required to relieve residual traction, which led to flattening of the retina.
