Removal of PCIOL on the Macula

Show Description +

In this case, an 86-year-old woman, who underwent complicated cataract surgery and experienced posterior capsule rupture during the PCIOL implantation, soon experienced an IOL drop into the posterior segment. Dr. Moraru performs a 25g pars plana vitrectomy to remove the PCIOL, using a small amount of perfluorocarbon liquid for macula protection and for the partial IOL levitation and flipping. She presents her technique to bring the IOL into the anterior chamber to explant the lens. She then implants a new three-piece IOL in the sulcus.
