David Reed, MD, presents a case involving a patient with a presbyopia-correcting IOL on whom a primary vitrectomy was performed for a superior RD. Intraoperatively, a posterior vitreous detachment had to be induced. The posterior hyaloid was tightly adherent to retina, with a posterior insertion of the vitreous base. The decision was made to add an encircling band.
