Lateral Decubitus Position for Pediatric YAG Capsulotomy

It can be difficult for pediatric and developmentally delayed patients to hold still for the YAG procedure. General anesthesia is often required to safely and effectively perform YAG capsulotomy. Matthew S. Ward, MD, explains that the lateral decubitus position allows for more simple positioning with the operative eye oriented superiorly compared to techniques where an asleep, intubated patient is brought to a sitting position.
