Intraoperative OCT Guided Pars Plana Vitrectomy

Show Description +

Aryeh L. Pollack, MD, demonstrates a pars plana vitrectomy and membranectomy guided by a real time intraoperative OCT to enable the surgeon to view the transparent retinal structures without the use of dyes or stains. This is one of the first recorded cases of intraoperative OCT done at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in New York City. It confers the advantage of an intraoperative superimposed high-definition structure, a definite benefit in terms of accuracy and efficiency.
