Yoshihiro Yonekawa, MD, reviews the surgical case of patient with a tractional retinal detachment. This patient with long standing diabetes presented with tractional retinal detachment in both eyes. The Ngenuity (Alcon) platform is used for this complex case. The Ngenuity camera was connected to a Leica microscope, with the BIOM 5 wide-angle viewing system (Oculus Surgical) and HTC macular lens (Insight Instruments). With 23-gauge instrumentation, bimanual dissection was performed with a lighted pic and max-grip forceps. The case also utilized hybrid 23/27-gauge vitrectomy.
