The implanted portion of the Argus II Retinal Prosthesis System by Second Sight Medical Technology consists of a receiving and transmitting coil, a case housing electronics for stimulation that is fixed to the scleral surface, and a multielectrode array that is secured to the intraocular vitreoretinal surface with a retinal tack.
