Excessive and agressive manipulation of fibrovascular membrans and a Diabetic retina is very hazardous, isn't it?

It is a very nice way for surgery but I don't think that it is safe in every case of PDR, taking in view that some diabetic TRD could be associated with thin and fragile ischemic retina which can't tolerate these strong maneuvers using the ocutome,. In these cases I think that using curved sissors and forceps is more safe .What are your indications for this technique

The diabetic retina is very delicate tissue! But your surgery is not so delicate. Sincerely your - Michael Shishkin MD (Department vitreoretinal surgery of Pirogow National Medical Center. Moscow).
