This final podcast of three dedicated to dry eye disease (DED) brings together Prof. Stefano Barabino (Italy), Prof. Marc Labetoulle (France) and Rebecca Petris (USA) to discuss DED from the patient’s perspective. Rebecca, founder of the patient organization The Dry Eye Foundation and a DED patient herself, provides insights into the impact of DED on patients’ everyday lives, describing the wide variation in individuals with DED and the patient journey from onset of symptoms to receiving effective treatment. The group also discuss the various treatments currently available for the management of DED, the concept of measuring the benefits of DED treatment in terms of impact on activities of daily living, and the importance of good communication between ophthalmologists, patients and other clinicians.
