The Power of CTAK: Significantly Improving Vision for Mild Keratoconus

Show Description +

This patient was diagnosed with mild keratoconus and presented with 5 diopters of astigmatism in the right eye along with an uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) of 20/70. The patient expressed concern about significant distortion due to the high astigmatism and desired improved visual clarity. After evaluating the stage of the condition and the patient's concerns, corneal tissue addition keratoplasty (CTAK) was recommended as a suitable treatment option. The procedure was well tolerated with no complications. On postoperative day one, the patient’s UCVA improved from 20/70 to 20/30+2. At the 3-month followup, topographic comparisons revealed a reduction of 3 diopters in astigmatism, and UCVA further improved to 20/20. The patient reported a high level of satisfaction with the results, noting a substantial enhancement in both visual clarity and overall quality of vision.
