Removal of an Akreos IOL

Ten days following implantation, Dr. Hirshfield demonstrates the removal of an Akreos lens (Bausch & Lomb, Rochester, NY) in an IOL exchange case. A pair of Mackool IOL Cutters (MSI Precision Instruments, Phoenixville, PA) are used to cut the lens 90% through the optic, so that the implant can be explanted in one maneuver.

still need to understand the relationship between hydrophylic and calcification

Very nice. Does this new hydrophilic material fuse to the capsule any quicker than say the typical hydrophobic acrylic material typically used here in the United States?
