When the going gets tough, the tough get going

Emulsified Heavy Oil

Show Description +

The patient in this case was treated with PPV surgery for retinal detachment 2 months prior and was referred to Klaus Lucke, MD, for a straight-forward silicone oil removal. Upon examination, silicone oil bubbles were noted on the anterior surface of the IOL and the capsular bag making removal of the oil much more involved than initially anticipated. Dr. Lucke advises against the use of silicone oil if alternative methods are feasible.
