Vitreous Hydration after Phacoemulsification and Pseudophakic Vitreo-Retinal Detachment

Show Description +

In this HD video animated surgery Juan Yepez, MD, proposes a new theory about pseudophakic vitreoretinal detachment after an uneventful phacoemulsification.

According to him, the amount of fluid that passes through the zonules is the most important risk factor for future vitreoretinal detachment. Additionally, he remarks that the amount of fluid that passes through the zonules during a non-complicated phaco depends on the type and duration of the phaco and the height of the water bottle (directly affects gravity weight) used during the procedure.
