Disagree that ND yag is safer then simple vitrectomy. Nd:Yag laser works by photodisruption which creates an mini explosion near the retina with the risk of causing a retinal hole and detachment. This is why most retina surgeons do not recommend ND:yag for floaters as well even though some physicians do this
