Using Sandwich Phaco in Small Pupil Case

Show Description +

Ming Chen, MD, presents the case of a 78-year-old Filipino man with a small pupil and chronic closed-angle glaucoma. The fellow eye had zonular dialysis causing posterior capsule tear and vitreous loss so extra caution was taken with this eye. Dr. Chen places four iris hooks and plans a Sandwich Phaco technique. A capsular tension ring is placed to stabilize the bag prior to intraocular lens insertion.
