I would also like to add here that if the Type 1 BB is not successful with air, bubble expansion should be attempted with storage medium before attempting with Viscoelastic as OVD may hinder with graft attachment in the post-operative period unless washed off well. Viscoelastic is helpful in case of central endothelial perforation where you cannot use a blunt instrument to block the perforation for fear of endothelial loss. Here OVD gives sufficient viscosity to enlarge the PDEK bubble despite leakage from the perforation
