The C-constant - A New Concept in IOL Power Calculations Using Ray Tracing

Show Description +

The calculation of IOL power in an eye that has undergone corneal refractive surgery is not a straight-forward task. However, if you understand why the calculation may go wrong, you will have a fair chance of getting a good result using modern technology. In this presentation, Thomas Olsen, MD, discusses the Olsen formula and "C-constant" concept. The Olsen formula uses an improved algorithm for the prediction of the IOL position which makes it possible to base the effective lens position on the anterior segment anatomy only (preoperative anterior chamber depth and lens thickness) thereby avoiding the troublesome K-reading dependence.
