Scleral Fixation of an IOL with a Suture Retriever

Show Description +

A patient presents for IOL exchange due to uveitis and glaucoma caused by a mobile IOL that was implanted 30 years ago. In this video, Jeffrey Benner, MD, demonstrates scleral fixation of an Akreos AO60 IOL (Bausch + Lomb) using a novel suture retriever (Trumed Design) to pass the 8-0 Gore-tex sutures as an alternative to the handshake technique. The patient's vision improved to 20/25 with resolution of the uveitis and glaucoma.
