The video series from Michael A. Klufas, MD, and Pradeep S. Prasad, MD, presents two cases of reoperation after initial diabetic vitrectomy for recurrent non-clearing vitreous hemorrhage. Both cases reveal persistent traction from residual hyaloid that was not removed during the initial surgery. These cases advocate for complete hyaloid removal during diabetic vitrectomy to reduce the risk of persistent traction and recurrent vitreous hemorrhage in cases of proliferative diabetic retinopathy requiring vitrectomy.
