Dr. Barrada. Is there a particular cause of filling the eye with silicone oil instead of c3f8? Excellent surgery by the way.

Dr. Urvashi; you have a point. A radial sponge or segmental tyre would have also worked. Thus, the debate about which surgery to choose for primary repair of a rhegmatogenous retinal retinal detachment continues...

It looks like a loclaised RD with single peripheral break . why did you not choose buckling as a primary option? thanks

May I ask the rationale of performing laser retinopexy around the tear under fluid instead than under air? The main disadvantage of performing under air is clearly the worse visualization, though in the case shown the tear was large and certainly not difficult to visualize under air. Many thanks Gianluca Carifi, MD

I use the Carl Zeiss Resight 700 Biom System coupled with 3C microscope mounted camera. Then I adjust the settings on the microscope to 'posterior' followed by brightness adjustment as needed. I record my videos onto the Archos digital display system, then use the iMovie to edit. Hope I was helpful.
