Posterior Vitreous Folds After Posterior Vitreous Detachment

Show Description +

Following posterior vitreous detachment, the posterior vitreous occupies a smaller surface area than when it was attached to the retina. The resulting folds can interfere with the passage of photons to the retina, inducing shadows. The resulting light scatter can profoundly degrade contrast sensitivity.
