Phaco in Traumatic Cataract with Anterior and Posterior Capsule Rupture

A 20-year-old male presented 3 days following an ocular injury involving a wooden stick. The anterior capsule was ruptured and cortical material was bulging in the anterior chamber. Upon examination, it was determined that the posterior capsule was likely compromised as well. As soon as the posterior capsule is exposed, a 5 to 6mm tear is seen. Dr. Harshul Tak demonstrates his approach to cataract removal and IOL implantation.

This video was presented during the 2015 Intraocular Implant and Refractive Surgery Convention (IIRSI) Film Festival. It won first place for the "Best in Cataract and Cataract Related Video" category.

How about draping the lids.

i would have placed a 3 piece in sulcus. one piece poses risk of ugh syndrome.
