Managing Endogenous Endophthalmitis

Show Description +

This is a case of bilateral uveitis 2 months after cholecystectomy. Due to high clinical suspicion and the possibility of future membrane formation over the macula (considering imaging), the patient was scheduled for pars plana vitrectomy and sampling. Although smear and culture results were negative, PCR results were positive with Candida species. After long-term oral antifungal and steroid therapy, the infection was controlled with significant visual recovery.
