IOL Scleral Fixation With No Intraocular Maneuvers

Show Description +

Shamil Louaya, MD, shares a method of sutureless scleral fixation of an IOL in which he performs steps of the procedure outside the eye using an IV catheter. The technique involves attaching polypropylene sutures to the haptics of the IOL, passing them through the catheter, and inserting the IOL into the eye through a small incision. Dr. Louaya says this method ensures stable fixation without tilting, respects endothelial cell density, and is suitable for various iris conditions.
