Soosan Jacob FRCS
Show Description +
In this video, Soosan Jacob, FRCS, demonstrates the use of a 5-year old donor graft for PDEK. The ability to use donors of any age is one of the major advantages of PDEK over DMEK, in addition to the relative toughness of the graft as compared to a DMEK graft.
She demonstrates her technique of E-PDEK/E-DMEK for easier and faster surgery. This technique, as well as the technique for PDEK, can be seen on PDEK and E PDEK with PCIOL in AC to Glued IOL, also by Dr. Jacob.
E-PDEK/E-DMEK or Endoilluminator Assisted PDEK/DMEK uses an endoilluminator to give fascinating clarity and 3-dimensional depth perception. This allows all steps of surgery to be carried out easily. Surgery becomes easier, faster and therefore with less endothelial loss. She uses pressurized air infusion for Descemetorhexis and for attaching the graft.
