great innovation .it is possible to remove the sharp bevel of the needle by breaking it. the same needle holder can be used to bend the sharp bevel in opposite directions one by one and then break off the sharp tip. that should make the tip of iris hooks safer.

An excellent idea - thank you for sharing and your efforts. I agree that damaging the anterior capsule with the sharpness of the needle is a risk (particularly in inexperienced hands). Also there is a risk to iris/corneal damage during removal. May I humbly suggest the following: 1. Somehow blunting the needle tip after the hook is ready 2. Injecting viscoelastic under the pupil between the iris and the anterior lens face to create a 'safe area' 3. Alternatively using trypan blue first to stain the visible anterior capsule before viscoelastic is introduced to ensure it is not caught as the hook is pulled. Once again thank you. Yes, it is metal bent needle. It is quite easy to perform. You just need to enter this hook a little bit, then put visco elastic substance between posterior surface of IRIS and ant. lens capsule. it will create a space to hook the iris properly. Thanks for appreciation.

Sharp needle tip may be dangerous,

Very innovative. Risk of injury to the capsule shall be a concern.

very nice idea

Good idea but quite dangerous in the hands of a novice. The anterior capsule can be torn and capsulorrhexis may not be possible. Polypropylene iris hooks are available in India and cost INR 400 (BDT 480).

very nice idea, it is very helpful for any surgeon. It would be even better if the sharpness of the needle could be removed somehow.
