Thierry Amzallag, MD, presents a technique called “Corneal On-Demand Irrigation System” which is designed to protect the epithelium during cataract surgery. This system uses a portion of irrigation flow from the ultrasound hand piece, thereby being under total surgeon control without any risk of anterior chamber collapse.

i dont get it. why not have the nurse put drops on the eye, or use ocucoat?
