Close Funnel Retinal Detachment

Show Description +

A 57-year-old male patient presents to Dr. Atul Dhawan 5-months following cataract surgery elsewhere complaining of decreases in vision over the previous 6-7 months. The cataract surgery performed during this timeframe did not improve vision. On examination, close funnel RD was noted and diagnosis was confirmed on B-scan. The patient was advised to undergo pars plana vitrectomy with PFCL assisted membrane dissection followed by a 3 clock hour retinectomy.
At one week postoperative, the retina was attached and the best corrected visual acuity was 2/60.
