This is a case of traumatic cataract with severe pre-existing zonular weakness. The cataract is removed and the capsular bag is repaired to facilitate in-the-bag placement of the intraocular lens.

9.0 prolene would have been better but is not readily available in the UK as the long double ended needle required. I did not pass the suture initially to reduce the risk of damaging the capsular bag in the phakic state.

Very nice. Few questions: 1. Will 10-0 prolene last long enough (vs maybe 8-0 or 9-0) under stress like that? 2. Why did you not just pass the suture initially? Was the use of the hook safer/easier before phaco or something?
