27 Gauge Pars Plana Vitrectomy

Show Description +

Dr. Matthew Witmer of Retinal Consultants of Arizona demonstrates the use of a 27-gauge vitrectomy system. The smaller gauge produces smaller sclerotomies that are more likely to seal without the need for sutures. In addition, the 27-gauge vitrector provides excellent control of vitreous removal with less risk of iatrogenic breaks.
