23G Cannula Drainage of Choroidals and Combined Phacovitrectomy in Retinal Detachment

Show Description +

Amer Awan, MBBS, FRCSEd, FRCOphth, describes a technique of 23 gauge cannula drainage of choroidals in retinal detachment. The technique involves tangential entry of 23 gauge cannula at 4mm from the limbus to enter the supracilliary space to drain the fluid. A 64-year-old myopic female presented with 360 degree choroidals secondary to hypotony related to retinal detachment. The patient was managed successfully with 23G cannula drainage of choroidals, combined phacovitrectomy, PVR peel, endolaser and silicone oil tamponade.
