Steve Updegraff, MD, FACS, presents his implantation technique for an Akreos MICS (Bausch & Lomb) lens through a 1.6-mm incision. Using counter-traction from a blunt second instrument, the surgeon engages the lip of the incision with the inserter cartridge bevel down. as the lens presents, the second instrument is placed in the fold of the lens to prevent the IOL from flipping. Uniformly, the IOL centers nicely in the bag.
